Larry Grisham was born in West Plains, MO in 1936. He was active in athletics and graduated High School in 1954 from Jonesboro. Larry started Duck hunting in 1952, though it seriously interfered with basketball practice. In 1955, he attended college at Oklahoma A & M on basketball scholarship under Coach Henry Iba. In 1956, Larry transferred to Arkansas and trained under Coach Glen Rose. He lettered in Basketball for two years, during which time the team won the SWC championship and played in the NCAA Tournament in 1958. (Larry always kept a shotgun in his Wilson Sharp room so he could slip out to Lake Fayetteville before class.) He graduated Univ. of Arkansas 1959 with a B S degree in Business Administration.
In 1962, Larry married Sherry Heringer; the couple just celebrated 53 years together. Their son is Ed and daughter is Paige. They have four grandsons.
Larry's business career was 55 years in retail clothing, retail aircraft fuel sales, retail banking. He completed his career as Chairman for Heritage Bank Jonesboro, which recently sold to Bear State Bank.
The job Larry loved the most: his business card said Wildlife Art Director – Arkansas Game & Fish Comm. The position was bestowed on him by Steve Wilson & Steve Smith and he was proud of it. Larry also served as publisher of the Arkansas Duck Stamp program from 1982 – 2015. They allowed him to do it all and Larry is proud to say our Arkansas program is the envy of every state in the union.
Join us for the second annual Arkansas Waterfowler Hall of Fame. The second class will be inducted on November 30, 2017. This evening event will share the stories of the impact of their contributions as waterfowl enthusiasts gather to celebrate this time honored tradition.
The creation of this new program is a long overdue effort to preserve the contributions of those individuals who have gone above and beyond through dedicated time, resources and other work to enhance the waterfowl industry in Arkansas.Nominate Today!
