Rick was born in Jacksonville, Arkansas in 1950 and began hunting and fishing at a young age with his older brother Danny. He attended school in Jacksonville until his family moved to Florida in 1966. Rick graduated high school in Lake Worth, Florida where he met his wife, Audrey. He attended Palm Beach Jr College on a baseball scholarship. In 1974, they moved back to Jacksonville and he went into the plumbing business with his brother.
Rick has three children, Valerie, Laura, and Matthew and six grandchildren. The Dunn Family is very close, literally... They live within a mile or two from each other. Razorback games are watched faithfully at their house, where Rick's been known to smoke some pretty mean ribs. Besides duck hunting, Rick's an avid fisherman and loves to play ping pong.
In 1975, Rick began to make duck calls. He originally was only trying to make a call for himself. He gave the first three or four calls away to friends. Finally, after many, many attempts, he figured out the exact sound he was looking for. He made one for himself that he really liked and a guy offered to buy it right off his lanyard.
Perseverance and a dream is how Echo Calls got started.
